This jacket has history.  It is being worn by Mary Alice Noges, one of the most elegant women I know.  I lived in Hilo as a little girl and my mother loved auctions.  One was held at the old Shipman House on Reeds Island after the last sister died.  My mother spied an old large steamer trunk and the auctioneer said that if you got the trunk you got what was inside it, but he wasn’t going to open it up.  Well, my mom got it and it was empty, all for this jacket, waded up in the corner and a pair of ivory chopsticks.  It is made of ribbon lace and is just beautiful.  My mother wore it to my wedding.
