The image of the carver intent upon his work with the form of an ancestor lending his inspiration was painted at the request of the Annual Celebration of the Art Festival held at Ritz Carlton Kapalua, Maui in 2007. Both artists and carvers will tell you that projects often take on a life of their own as the work progresses – almost as if you are just releasing the image that was already inside. This carving is now installed on the Ritz Carlton property.
